Universal Beams

Universal Beams are used in construction to carry bending and shear loads horizontally and is spanned by joists. The term ‘universal beam’ is used due to the versatility of these beams in building.

Steel beams and joists are force-resistant due to their ability to bend rather than buckle, but they are not capable of withstanding a large degree of torsion and have little resistance to bidirectional twisting.

Universal beams are usually made of structural steel, as are the joists that connect them.

All our steel is manufactured in our own workshops and we have 50 years of experience working in the steel industry. Our steel fabrication service is the product of expert workmanship and the experience of our team of highly-skilled professionals.

All universal steel beams we produce have original manufacturer’s test certification and meet BS EN ISO 9002 requirements. Our steelwork is manufactured to British Standards BS 8666 and BS 4466 and all our welding, drilling and steelwork fabrication is compliant with CE Marking standards.
