SMALL WORKS & HOME EXTENSIONS
Cannon Steels have been offering a comprehensive and personal small works service to the local building and construction industry as well as the DIY jobbers for over 30 years providing steelwork from single RSJ’s to almost anything you need in steel.
“WE REQUIRE STEELWORK FOR A CONVERSION, WHAT DO WE DO?”
Firstly we need your Engineer’s drawings showing steel section sizes. You can either contact us via post, fax or email on enquiries@cannonsteelsltd.co.uk. From this we can estimate a price for you based on scaled lengths. If you have a list of sizes for cut to length, try phoning our experienced sales team and get a price instantly on 0208 805 4070/6987.
CAN WE CALL IN TO YOUR WORKS AND GO OVER THE DRAWINGS WITH YOU?
We are open from 7.30am until 5.00pm and will be pleased to either quote from your given details, use the actual lengths if you have them and provide you with an accurate cost for you to take away with. If you are satisfied with our prices and want to proceed with an order, a member of our sales team will finalise all the details with you and process for the earliest delivery or collection.
WE’RE NOT FAMILIAR WITH STEEL AND WILL NEED SOME HELP WITH GIVING THE CORRECT INFORMATION
No problem, if you have the lengths and dimensions of your steel requirements, we can finalise all the nitty gritty details of what we need and how we are going to produce your steelwork from one of our Tech guys. They will go through all the details they need from you in order to then produce our working drawings prior to manufacture of any steel. If you are still unsure, we can provide you with a copy of our working drawings together with a layout drawing or how your steelwork goes together before starting. This way you can double check on site and confirm back to us to check everything is ok..
IF WE ARE ONLY TENDERING FOR A JOB, IS OK TO GET A PRICE
We understand that pricing plays a big part of any job. We are more than happy to quote on any steelwork irrespective of whether you have the order to place or not.
CAN YOU TAKE SITE DIMENSIONS?
Our site Contracts Manager or Surveyor can make an appointment with you to attend site and carry out a survey for dimensions. They will advise of what you will be required to prepare prior to our visit for them to take dimensions. Setting out positions and taking levels will be information required by others, generally by choice of the client and the Architect. From final site dimensions we can then produce our working drawings, for your final approval if required prior to manufacture of steelwork. There is a charge for the survey but also includes a ‘peace of mind Guarantee’ that if dimensions are taken incorrectly, unfortunately, this happens from time to time either by us or the customer, then any rectification work will be undertaken by us at our expense.
DO YOU SITE FIX STEELWORK?
Yes. We have an appointed experienced team of steel fixers that will fix almost any kind and any quantity of steel for you. We can usually estimate a provisional cost from drawings to give you an initial idea or call to site for an accurate quotation. We can organise for all labor and necessary plant required to be used including crane hire including possible Authority parking or road closure permits that may be required, subject to our application to the Council. All of our operatives are fully experienced and hold the necessary qualified certificates for use of plant and machinery. We provide Risk Assessment and Method of statement reports. We also have the added advantage of our larger 18-tonne rigid delivery vehicles fitted with a crane offload facility with a reach of 15 meters that can assist in hoisting items to scaffold or roof levels or anywhere else you may require within its capability. A charge for this service will be applicable but you will certainly save on crane hire charges and back treatment costs.
DO YOU PROVIDE ALL THE EXTRA BITS AND PIECES THAT GO WITH THE STEEL?
Any fabrication work carried out includes all the steel to steel connecting bolts and necessary fittings to assemble the steelwork. You may require paint protection of which we generally use a weldable zinc-based primer (red), brush applied at our works. Other possible coatings to choose include Glavafroid primer, black bitumen or galvanized finish of which requires the material to be sent away to be dipped of which is approx a five-day turnaround. Fireproof intumescent paint is stocked in 5 ltr tins for application by brush to pre-primed steel once in situ (by others). We also stock a range of timber bolt fixings complete with plate/tooth plate washers, anchor bolt fixings of either expanding thru bolts or a resin kit, Podger spanners, touch up spray paint, drill bits in HSS or SDS all of which help you to fit your steel from start to finish. Most commonly, bearing plates are requested of which there is a multitude of different sizes and thicknesses available that can be cut and supplied to your requirements.
HOW QUICK CAN YOU TURNAROUND STEELWORK?
We will endeavor to meet your delivery requirements. Delivery dates will be determined on the extent of fabrication work to be done and of course, having to detail the work for our fabricators to manufacture. For basic fabrication such as cleated connections, drilling holes, bolted pairs, splices, etc can be achieved in two to three days. Cut to length only can invariably be done for the next day’s deliveries and if painted, add an extra day, whilst collections can be available for the same day.
